If you\u2019re a fan of Warhammer 40k <\/em>and its neverending war, then you\u2019ll appreciate the Everwar, a concept in Aveum <\/em>whereby war is constantly waged over leylines and who controls them. Jak is dragged into that war and must fight to discover his place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re likely to get much, much more information about Immortals of Aveum <\/em>as the July release date draws closer, but for now, we have plenty to go on. Here are some of the gameplay features you can look forward to in Immortals of Aveum<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

• Three different kinds of magic. <\/strong>Jak can wield three different kinds of magic, and they\u2019ll manifest as skills that will be \u201cfamiliar-feeling\u201d, according to a PlayStation Blog post<\/a>. These skills include a shotgun-like spread spell, a \u201crapid-firing homing projectile\u201d spell, and a magical javelin you can hurl at your enemies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
• Up-close and personal combat. <\/strong>You\u2019re not going to be a \u201cback-row wizard slinging spells\u201d, according to the aforementioned PlayStation Blog post. Instead, you\u2019re going to be a frontline warrior battling your enemies up close and personal, so you don\u2019t need to worry about being a glass cannon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
• Extensive movement system. <\/strong>Director Bret Robbins, who\u2019s worked on games like Dead Space <\/em>and Call of Duty<\/em>, says he didn\u2019t want to make a cover shooter in which players were constantly ducking behind cover. Instead, he wanted to create something in which they could constantly be moving around, double-jumping and teleporting around enemies to get the drop on them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
• Gear system. <\/strong>You\u2019ll be able to swap out gear and change your loadout depending on what kind of magic you want to emphasise. We\u2019re hoping that this won\u2019t manifest itself as a kind of Gotham Knights<\/em>-style loot mechanic, so that we can change gear out meaningfully and not simply be constantly swapping for something slightly better.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

  An in-depth Talent Tree. <\/strong>As well as gear, you\u2019ll be able to give Jak new abilities and boosts based on a Talent Tree. This tree will let you choose which kind of magic you want to specialise in, and it\u2019ll unlock powerful new abilities based on what you choose. Again, we\u2019re hoping that the talents you pick here will be significant and won\u2019t just be minor percentage boosts to damage or other stats.
