John Wick 4 Release Date, Trailer, Cast & Everything We Know

If you’re a fan of action movies, you’ve probably already watched all of the John Wick films. If not, then you’re missing out; they offer stripped-down, engaging action with brutal fight choreography and expertly-crafted setpieces. It’s rare for a franchise to hold the attention of both audiences and critics across multiple instalments, but that’s exactly what John Wick has done. All three movies enjoy a Rotten Tomatoes rating of over 80% in terms of both the critical and audience consensus.

With many big films arriving in 2023, you’ll be pleased to know that if you are a fan of John Wick, a fourth movie is on the way, and it’s launching this year, so you’ll get to see more of Keanu Reeves’ martial arts shenanigans before long. In addition, multiple spinoff movies and TV shows have been discussed by the show’s creators, and one show, The Continental, is expected to air sometime this year as well. Let’s take a look at everything we know about the forthcoming John Wick 4 and what it will entail!

John Wick 4 release date – when is the movie coming out?

The official title of John Wick 4 is actually John Wick: Chapter 4, in keeping with the naming system of the previous movies. It’s been stylised on movie posters and in official marketing materials as JW4, but for all intents and purposes, the movie’s unofficial title (and the one most people will probably know it by) is John Wick 4.

With that in mind, the John Wick 4 release date is March 24th, which is when you’ll be able to go and see the movie in cinemas. That’s a worldwide cinema release date, too, so wherever you are in the world, if cinemas are showing John Wick 4, that’s when they’ll be showing it.

John Wick 4 trailer – what does it look like?

In November 2022, Lionsgate released the first official John Wick 4 trailer, giving us a glimpse of what we can expect from the action movie. As you’d imagine, Keanu Reeves is front and centre, showing off his impressive martial arts skills and battling Donnie Yen’s blind High Table assassin Caine. The trailer makes the movie look like it’s going to offer more of what you love about John Wick, and you can watch it here via Lionsgate’s official YouTube channel.

If you want more John Wick (and who doesn’t?), then you can also check out this video from San Diego Comic-Con, which was released on Lionsgate’s YouTube channel back in July 2022. In the video, Keanu surprises a panel and his fans by appearing and answering a couple of questions about John Wick 4, including how many countries Wick will visit and what kind of action you can expect from the movie. Make sure to watch it if you want a reminder of just how great Keanu Reeves is (and again, who doesn’t?).

John Wick 4 plot – what’s the setup of the movie?

The plot of John Wick 4 concerns Wick trying to take down the High Table, an organisation of killers that has hounded his every step since the events of the first movie. Wick must therefore forge new alliances, do battle with old and new enemies alike, and try to find a way to regain his freedom from a life of assassination.

John Wick 4 cast – who’s in the movie?

As ever, Lionsgate has assembled a veritable who’s who of great actors and screen talent for John Wick 4. Keanu Reeves heads up the ensemble, of course, but he’s matched by plenty of other actors. Here’s the cast list for John Wick 4 as we know it so far.

  • Keanu Reeves as John Wick, the titular taciturn assassin of the series. Wick is currently being hunted by an organisation known as the High Table thanks to his legendary skills as a killer.
  • Donnie Yen as the blind High Table assassin Caine, who is also a friend of John Wick, complicating matters somewhat.
  • Bill Skarsgard as the Marquis de Gramont, another High Table member who’s being challenged for his position by Wick.
  • Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King, who’s currently working alongside John Wick in his battle against The High Table. This will also mark the reunion of Reeves and Fishburne, who both starred in the classic action movie The Matrix.
  • Ian McShane as Winston Scott, the Continental Hotel’s manager and one of John Wick’s key allies. McShane is a legendary actor who has also appeared in productions like American Gods.
  • Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu.
  • Lance Reddick as Charon, the Continental Hotel’s quiet and slick concierge. Reddick has appeared as Charon before, and he was also in The Wire as Cedric Daniels, as well as appearing in Resident Evil as Wesker.
  • Scott Adkins as Killa.
  • Clancy Brown as The Harbinger.
  • Shamier Anderson as The Tracker.
  • Marko Zaror as Chidi.
  • George Georgiou as The Elder, who was played in the previous John Wick movie by Said Taghmaoui. The character has been recast for this movie, but we’re not expecting any kind of explanation regarding why his appearance has changed.
  • Rina Sawayama as Akira. Rina Sawayama is a musical artist who you might recognise from hits like “XS” and “STFU!”.
  • Natalia Tena in an unknown role.
  • Bridget Moynahan as Helen Wick, who will appear as John Wick’s wife in some capacity. It’s not yet clear whether Moynahan will appear as a flashback, a hallucination, or both.
